first of all, all those mexicans you see claiming to be latinos happen to aztec indian a.k.a american indian or native american conquered by europeans, most mexicans are not mixed, if you go to argentina or uruguay most of the people are completely white with blue and blond hair, people seemed to be stereotypical with latinos, also latinos means you come from a spanish speaking country that's all, i've been to italy and there's a large amount of italians that are mixed with arabs, alot of the southern european countries were populated with arabs, a full blood european person is pale not tan, not brown, i meet this american born italian guy that looks like he's from the middle east claiming to be italian, white people are pale or a little pink with beige with different types of hair colors, i'm not racist or anything is just people fail to recognize what really a spanish person looks like.

Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Cuban belong to latin america because we speak spanish. By the way answering your question.... I'm hispanic and of course not all of us are indians, take us cubans for example spaniards exterminated all natives in Cuba, there a lot of cubans mix with blacks that were brought as slaves and some spaniards just didn't mix.

This statement applies to all races. It just proves that we shouldn't be sterotypical of one another. Take me for example, people thought I was hispanic because I had a light skin tone but in reality I was Indian. I hate people who don't step outside their boundaries and discover the real truth. Those kind of people are ignorant and deserve to be ignored.

From what I learned in Chicano studies. Mexican was a form or meant Mestizo which means mixture. You are probably right in your assertion, that some Mexicans, are Aztec, Mayan, or Yaqui and were just conquered by Spanish Europeans. Isn't Latino just short for latin.

Can you tell the difference between Irish, Scottish and English features? How about German, Swedish and Dutch? You already admitted you can't. Most white people can. The differances are subtle. You look at white people and think 'white', not 'irish', or 'german'. If you were surrounded by white people most of the time, you'd start to notice the small things that tell them apart.
When there is an area that doesn't have very many latino's living in it, you think of 'latino' to describe that person. In many areas, most of the latino's are mexican. So when the only latino's a person knows are mexican, you begin to think of dark hair, medium skin and dark eyes as mexican. If there were more cubans then mexicans in an area, people would think of all latino's as cuban.
When you're around a group of people who all look very similar from a distance (same color skin, hair, ect.), you look for subtle differences to tell them apart. When you meet someone who looks very different, you remember them for that bigger difference. Its a matter of who you live around. You remember physical attributes that tell that person apart from those around them.
For example- I'm pretty sure there are only two black people in my town. (I live in Maine, which is only 1% minority) Both of them are great guys. When you're trying to describe them to someone, the easiest way to do it is either 'the small black guy', or 'the big black guy'. If there were more black people in this town, that description would be useless. We don't look for subtle differences in their appearances, because the bigger differances are more useful. If there was only one blonde in your town, you'd describe her as the blonde girl. If there was only one person in a wheelchair, you'd describe them as the person in the wheelchair. (especially if you didn't know them well enough to have noticed more subtle differences)

Hello my fellow slytherin. Well, I am Puerta Rican *I am caribbean not spanish or hispanic or what ever* and everyone thinks I am white. Weird. I don't act white, nor do I act puerta rican %26gt;.%26gt; ooooh snap. Most people think any spanish person is mexican, me included cause I just call everyone a mexican. :D If i see someone that looks spanish and I KNOW they are peruvian, I say "OI MEXICAN" :D No worries, %26gt;.%26gt; I dont mean it baddly. HEheheheh
